Babies Wiley John Thomas & Wynne Malloy, 7 days old | Collegeville Newborn Photographer

Collegeville newborn session melissa layton photography

Introducing Wiley John Thomas and Wynne Malloy! These cuties came to me one week after they were born at Bryn Mawr.

Big sister Mazzen came with Mom and Dad to the session, which was perfect, because Mom told me that she had been highly involved in their story. She even knew they were having twins before Mom and Dad did!

Here’s how Mom said they found out about their little boy and girl:

We kept that we were having twins a secret. Very few people knew. We also waited to find out the gender. When we told Mazzen we were having a baby, she said, “No, we are having two babies.” Later, she named the babies Cakey and Cupcakey and told us it was a boy and a girl. We were so happy to be able to tell her that she was right when they were born. She was even right as to who was where in Mommy’s belly!

This was an especially emotional moment for Mom and Dad, since they had lost their second daughter, Malloy, at birth. Their twins are rainbow babies, but they wanted to honor their missing child, which is why Wynne’s middle name is Malloy.

While Mom and Dad said that they were so grateful for their twins, there was a bittersweet feeling in the air:

We have been through a lot losing our daughter, Malloy “Lala,” and we are just so grateful for these babies. We still very much feel like we are missing someone and will always wish Lala was here so we could have all four of our babies together.

John & Holly, you both know that you have all my love. I am so glad I was able to be there for you and that you were able to bring these beautiful babies to my studio.

Baby Summer Rose, 8 days old | North Wales Newborn Photographer

north wales newborn session melissa layton photography

Introducing Summer Rose! This cutie came to me just 8 days after she was born at Pennsylvania Hospital, and I loved having not only her but her whole family in my studio.

Summer has two big brothers, Hunter and Carter. Those two boys are completely enamored with their brand new little sister, and you can see it in the way they interact with her. Mom really wanted a picture of all three of them together, and I’m so glad we managed to get it—even if wrangling three small kids can be difficult sometimes.

Mom told me about how the boys had been asking for a baby sister for a while:

Hunter, age 5, had been asking for another baby, specifically a sister, before we even found out we were pregnant. Then, we found out we were pregnant, and this pregnancy was so different than with the 2 boys that we were sure it was a girl—but we just wanted a healthy baby. When we found out at 20 weeks it was a girl, the boys were so happy that they were getting a baby sister. I took Hunter shopping, and he wanted to buy her all the bows and pretty much everything at the store!

I also loved the story of how they chose Summer’s name:

Our Summer Rose is so special, as she will complete this chapter of pregnancy and having children. She was the missing piece to our family, and we couldn’t be happier or more excited with her. Her brothers are so smitten with her and are so in love with her. It is wonderful to see their interactions with not only each other but now with her as well.

Shawn & Amanda, thank you for bringing your beautiful family to my studio. I’m so thrilled for you and your new family of five!

Baby Arianna Marie, 15 days old | Skippack Newborn Photographer

Introducing Arianna Marie! This beautiful miracle came to me 15 days after she was born at Abington Hospital.

It was a rough ride for Arianna at first. Mom told me the story of the heroic hospital staff that helped their little girl make it through those first few hours:

I had a planned C-section at 34 weeks due to placenta accrete at Abington Hospital. Our beautiful baby girl cried when she was born but soon after was apneic and needed to be intubated for a few hours and then slowly weaned off oxygen. We are incredibly thankful for the doctors there who took care of Arianna (Dr. Snyder) and me (Dr. Wood and Dr. Shahin) as well as the nurses.

With such an exciting start to life, it’s no surprise that the family came in to take care of things, especially big brother Max:

I am very thankful for all the time my mom spent at our house helping out with everything as well as our other moms who would watch Max at a moment’s notice.

After worrying about the pregnancy from the very beginning (5 weeks in), Mom said that she could hardly believe how happy she was now to have their family of four complete:

We are so thankful to have our miracle baby who completes our family. She is so strong, and we are excited to watch her amaze us every day!

Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also say how fun it was to have little Max back in the studio. I did his newborn pictures, and it was so fun to see him in full “big brother” mode, posing with Arianna and giving me the widest, goofiest grins!

Laura & Steve, thank you for bringing your brand new little girl to come meet me. I love seeing your family in my studio!

Twins Hunter & Grayson, 10 days old | Newborn Photographer

newborn session melissa layton photography

Introducing Hunter and Grayson! These adorable twins came to me just 10 days after they were born at Capital Health.

I was thrilled that the whole family came to be part of documenting these first days in the boys’ lives. Big sister Juliette came, and so did Grandma, Mom, and Dad. These boys are totally surrounded by love!

Of course, the family was also there for Mom and Dad, who were a little worn out being the parents of three kids under age 2. Mom told me that they were so lucky that the kids’ grandparents had been so involved; they were real life-savers!

I love Mom’s story of how they broke the news, especially because it involved Grandma—so it was great to have her in the studio again for more grandbaby goodness.

We were very surprised to find out we were having twins and excited that we were having two boys. We told the grandparents while we were on vacation that we were pregnant but waited until the next day to tell them that it was twins. The next morning, we handed the grandmoms the ultrasounds of each baby and one that was labeled with “A” and “B.” They were unable to figure it out. After a few minutes, we had Juliette run out it a shirt that said “Big Sister to Twins.” Needless to say, there was a mixture of joy and shock. Luckily, we have it all on video.

And Mom also told me how they picked the boys’ names:

Hunter and Grayson were the two boy names that we had picked out for our daughter before she was born. Hunter’s middle name, Philip, is after his paternal great grandfather. Grayson’s middle name, River, is after his maternal great grandmother.

Lisa & Frederick, thank you so much for bringing your family to my studio. I’m so excited for you to be a family of five!

Sammy & Grace | Allentown Family Photographer

Newborn photographer portrait maternity pictures Pennsylvania Harleysville Melissa Layton PhotographyI loved seeing Sammy and Grace back in my studio! I’ve been photographing these two since Sammy’s newborn session, and I will never get over how much they’ve grown every time I see them.

Mom wanted to get some updated pictures now that Grace is about to be 4 and Sammy is 5. Plus, it was about time for some pictures to use in a Christmas card anyway. So, on an early November day, we met up at my studio to get some great pictures for the holidays. We even put together a Christmas card from this session!

I loved what Mom had to say about this kind of session:

It is true when they say: “don’t blink.” Children grow and change so quickly, and it is truly a treasure to have pictures of them at different stages.

Thanks to this amazing family for letting me continue to be part of your lives. I love seeing you all and hope to be able to meet up with you again soon!
